This is your opportunity as a wildlife and conservation volunteer, to get hands-on experience working alongside our wildlife management team on a Big 5 game reserve, in one of the most stunning areas of South Africa.
This is a well established wildlife project that has created a positive impact on conservation efforts by helping maintain a game reserve and managing its wildlife within. Without you, this project quite simply could not take place. You'll work alongside top conservationists, wildlife managers, and the most awe inspiring animal species such as elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo, kudu and Gemsbok.
What will I do?This project is ideal for volunteers wanting a short experience holiday or gap year students looking for a summer conservation project.
*Monitoring lion, elephant and rhino *Game counts *Hyena tracking *Vegetation control *Game reserve clean-up *Repairing river crossings after rainfalls *Parasite control *Building of nesting structures to encourage more wildlife *Bush walks, Game drives, Night drives *Coastal ecology (you are just 15 minutes from the beach) *Learning bush survival skills *Camping out in the bush *Community work one day a week at a local farm school (depending on time of year)
You'll stay in a renovated farmhouse on the 'big game' section of Kariega game reserve, which has the added luxury of a swimming pool. Additional activities available at weekends at your own expense include; Horseriding, Whale Watching , Skydiving, Bungee jumping, Kayaking, Deep sea fishing, Addo Elephant Park field trip
